So far, have a Cothran 2250 pcp tube on order, have a JDS Airman bottle adapter, a Stace left handed breech, an Airmagnum Power valve, P-Rod trigger pack, 14 & 24 inch 22 caliber barrels, and a 4500 psi 13 ci bottle with two different regs, one set at 1500 psi output, the other adjustable from 1600 to 3000 psi output. And of course, a Crosman carbine buttstock lol -
Any tips on installing the bottle adapter will be greatly appreciated, have pinned a valve before, but this mod is a little less forgiving?
Thanks in advance, haven't been here in a while, and I come "take-ing" will try my best to contribute something with this next build.
I would expect the adapter would just screw on the end of the tube. Is it more involved than that? Probly should ask the supplier and ask for the max working pressure as well. You need to get it right so you don't make a pipe bomb. Three #8 grade 8 hardened screws should be through the tube and threaded into the valve so it stays put. If you are going above 2K psi then the screws need to be #10 grade 8
Well gang, let me start by saying I hope everyone had and is still having a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I received my 2250 pcp tube from Don Cothran. Went to install the JDS Airman drop block adapter, and there was a little issue of fit, as it wouldn't go in all the way and mount flush. So I contacted Don, he was and is cool, he suggested I send him the adapter and tube in for a custom tube fit. He later got in touch with me and said his tube would work better w/o the threads, so we agreed, and that's what I ended up with.
Right now going with a standard Disco valve, and have a 4500 psi bottle with a 1500 psi output, fixed. I have another reg and valve to play with. The other reg output is adjustable from 1600 to 3000 psi.
The other valve is a Magnum Airpower, and I'm saving that for a .25 barrel, maybe lol?
Here's a few pics of variuos stages -
Right now I'm using a Crosman power adjuster, the one from a 2300 pistol with a trimmed Discovery hammer spring. Adjusted all the way out with no pre-load, getting 705 fps with H&N 14.66. Adjusted all the way in 845 fps.
Accuracy spotty untill I switched to JSB 15.90 Hades, 24" Discovery barrel likes these.
Temp set up with the breech riser, really want a Cothran riser breech but not available just yet.
It's old hat, this conversion, but it's fun, something to tinker with.
